IT Takeover and Security Review

A fixed-fee way to switch your IT to PicNet. Our engineers take over from your current provider, review your security against the Essential Eight, and give you a written report on what they found.

Changing IT provider is when things go missing. Admin passwords nobody wrote down, backups that quietly stopped, a domain registered to a former employee. Our takeover and security review moves your IT to PicNet in a set order, and tells you in writing what state it is in when we receive it.

The work is done by senior engineers from our Crows Nest team. They collect the documentation and credentials from your current provider, check them against your live systems, take over administration and review your environment against the ASD Essential Eight. The report ranks each risk by urgency and says what fixing it involves, so you can decide what to do first.

The fee is fixed and agreed before we start, so the cost of switching is known up front. Once the takeover is complete, ongoing support runs under a monthly managed IT agreement, scoped from what the review found.

What the fixed fee covers

A COMPLETE HANDOVER AND AN HONEST LOOK AT YOUR SECURITY

Handover from your current provider

We collect documentation, network diagrams, credentials, vendor contracts and asset registers, then check them against your live systems.

Administration in your control

We change the admin credentials, confirm your domains, licences and cloud subscriptions are held by your organisation, and tell your vendors about the new arrangements.

Essential Eight review

We assess application control, patching, Office macro settings, application hardening, admin privileges, multi-factor authentication and backups against the ASD Essential Eight.

Microsoft 365 and cloud settings

We review sign-in protection, admin roles, external sharing and security settings in Microsoft 365, Azure or AWS.

Backup check

We confirm what is backed up, where the copies are kept and when each backup last succeeded.

Monitoring from the first day

Our monitoring agents go onto your servers and devices during the handover, so problems are visible from the day we take over.

Written report and 30-day review

You receive a report that ranks the risks we found and what fixing each one involves. After a month we review the transition and close anything missed.

How the takeover runs

THE SAME STEPS FOR EVERY CLIENT

Discovery

We collect it all

Your current provider hands over the system documentation, network layout, admin logins, supplier agreements and equipment list, and we follow up on any gaps.

Environment audit

We check it against reality

We audit your infrastructure independently and confirm the documentation matches your live systems.

Provider Meeting

Meeting with existing provider

We meet with the incumbent to clarify any questions and finalise a timeline for hand over and period for when we are able to still ask them questions.

Go-Live

We take over

We change admin credentials, take full responsibility, and start taking support requests from you, and notify your vendors of the new arrangements.

Bedding In

Careful monitoring

During this brief period where we are providing real support we will confirm all admin credentials have been transferred, roll out our monitoring agents, configure our service desk documentation and set performance baselines. During this time we may send questions to your previous provider.

30-day review

We close the gaps

We review the transition after a month to find and fix anything that was missed.
